With the release of Internet Explorer 8 there is also a new technology called “Accelerators”
Accelerators allow you to select text on a page and then search for it, map it, send it by email, or post it to your blog by accessing these services.
According to Microsoft, Accelerators eliminate the need to copy and paste content between web pages and services.

When you have got a Matepress account you can enjoy the benefits of these accelerators in Internet explorer 8.
You can easily select text on a webpage and send the selected text directly to your blog on Matepress.
Matepress respects the original source and will add a link beneath every post, which has been send through the Matepress accelerator.

Internet Explorer 8 comes with a selection of Accelerators included by default, but you can add or remove them as you like.
When you first install Internet Explorer 8, you can accept a selection of default Accelerators, or you can choose your own from an online list of accelerators.
The list of new Accelerators is frequently updated, so be sure to check it out from time to time.

Matepress is XFN friendly!

What is XFN?

poppetje_xfnfriendlyXFN stands for ´XHTML Friends Network´.  XFN uses hyperlinks in a simple way to represent human relationships. Matepress is XFN friendly for your contacts but also for yourself. WordPress for example makes it easier to represent the relationships you share with authors of other websites

How does it work?

When you are linking to a website that has been authored by your friend, you can represent this fact using the XFNTM framework, by adding  the “rel=friend” attribute to the link. This way XFN makes it possible for you to see how you are related to the pages you link to.

Benefits

Specialized services like rubhun and search engines like Google, will be able to understand and display the relationships you share with other people. Which makes the content of your weblog more semantic.

Using XFN

When pepole add a new link to the ‘links manager’ , they can specify the relationship they share in real life with the authors of the pages to which they are  linking to. For example this will automatically add a “rel=friend” attribute to the HTML code for the link.

An XFN Example

Let’s say your friend owns a website called “thisisanexample.com”. Since you’re a big fan of his work  you want to add his site to your list of links. XFN gives you the oppurtunity to specify that the owner of that site is your friend, and that you have met in real life. The link that will be created, will look like this:  <a href=”http://www.thisisanexample.com/” rel=”friend met”>Example</a>
